In 1990, Kirk Perron came up with the idea of a juice bar, after while sipping on his smoothie after his daily workout. After being denied loans from multiple banks, Kirk was lent the money to start his business from his mother. In the first weekend of being open, 2600 people walked through The doors. There are now 800 Jamba Juice bars across the world.
“INTRODUCING WHOLE
FOOD INGREDIENTS WITH A
WHOLE LOT OF GOODNESS”-Jamba Juice
This is quiet a deceptive slogan for a company that uses artificial sweeteners, mystery dairy products and pesticide laden fruits and vegetables.
Jamba Juice uses conventional fruits and vegetables. This means, the fruits and vegetables that are the source of their “nutritional” smoothies are not only sprayed with carcinogenic pesticides, they could potentially be GMO items as well.
Pesticides accumulate in the fat deposits in the body where they remain and cause damage. Pregnant women can pass pesticides on to their fetus. Nursing mothers can pass the pesticides on to their infants and small children through the breast milk. Men, women and children that eat fruits and vegetables that have been treated with pesticides, test positive for pesticide in their urine.
Chemical pesticides have been repeatedly linked to various cancers, ADHA and overall, an unnecessary burden on your body. Government tests suggest that 150 of the commonly used pesticides are potentially cancer causing.
Jamba Juice ingredients list shows the use of a milk based sherbet and/or a milk base Greek yougurt in their “Regular” smoothies. Ashley Bates, from Mother Jones says:
“The Jamba Juice website highlights its “natural energy from nutritious ingredients.” Yet it’s actually impossible to get a smoothie made with a base of plain old real milk: Only soy milk can be substituted for the frozen yogurt and sherbet in the “classic” smoothies, and the light smoothies are all made with a mysterious “dairy base” that contains the artificial sweetener Splenda.”
They do offer a “light” version of their smoothies that contain a “dairy base” on its ingredient list on thier website. They do not explain where the source of dairy comes from, which is not in the best interest of their consumers, as you can see below:
They make no claim of avoiding artificial sweeteners in their food products. Although Splenda is not on the website’s list of ingredients, you will be able to see the tiny SPLENDA symbol on the “Make it Light” menu board in their store locations.
Aspartame and sucralose, are sold under the brand name Splenda. A study published in 2008 in the “Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health” found that sucralose reduced beneficial gut bacteria in rats. Another study published in “Environmental Health Perspectives” in 2007 found that long-term exposure to low doses of aspartame increased cancer in rats.
