Almost every piece of dietary advice you can find recommends low-fat or non-fat dairy. But a growing number of experts are stating that it’s healthier to eat and drink dairy products with all the fat left in. While raw, organic milk offers numerous health benefits, a Harvard researcher and pediatrician says that conventional milk and dairy products are dangerous to your health due to added health-compromising sweeteners. Did you know that one cup of 2-percent milk contains 12.3 grams of sugar, more than a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup and almost as much as a chocolate chip cookie?
As David Ludwig mentioned in his research, which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics, there have been numerous pieces of research proving dangerous l effects of sugar-sweetened beverages. The over-consumption of sugar has been tied to obesity, diabetes, inflammatory-related pain, and much more. And because of sugar’s negative effects on our health, even the United States Department of Agriculture, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and other organizations are recommending against consuming calories from sugary drinks.
When you consume low-fat or skim milk, not only are you drinking a denatured food, you’re contributing to obesity. A 2005 study published in Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine followed 12,829 children ages 9 to 14 years. The study found that drinking reduced fat milk was associated with weight gain, whereas full-fat milk was not.
