Everyone loves blueberries. They are a super-antioxidant fruit that are incredibly healthy and taste great. Food manufactures love blueberries too, or should I say, they love the idea of blueberries. Did you know instead of using real blueberries, some companies use blueberry “bits” and “particles,” which usually consist of different types of sugars and starches coated with food dye to make them look like blueberries.
In fact, the blueberries you are eating are made out of chemicals and artificial colors.
Artificial food coloring has been linked to ear infections, headaches, hypersensitivity, obesity, asthma,diabetes,eczema, mood swings, hyperactivity, sleep disturbances, increased risky behavior, ADD/ADHD, chromosomal damage, hives, and possibly hypoglycemia.
•Blue #1: Produces malignant tumors at the site of injection and by ingestion in rats. Possible effects include asthma, hives, hay fever, low blood pressure, allergic reactions. Caution is advised if aspirin sensitive.
•Blue #2: Is a petroleum based product with a chemical formula of C16H10N2O2. It increases hyperactivity in children, increases brain tumors in lab rats and other abnormal cell development.

The investigative video made by a partnership between Adams and the non-profit Consumer Wellness Center, names Kellogg’s, Target, Betty Crocker, General Mills and other food companies that use artificial colors to create the illusion of real blueberries in their products, which include blueberry cereals, muffins, pastries and bars.
Avoid fake blueberries in your foods by reading nutrition labels for artificial colors such as Red #40, Blue #1 and Blue #2. They are usually found near the end of the ingredients list.
Additionally, do not purchase foods made with artificial colors that are full of toxic chemicals.
